Transport and storage of heat-sensitive and heat-labile healthcare products: how do I choose my insulated crate?
Our entire range of isothermal BACs has been subjected to validation tests in accordance with the ISTA 7D standard. Temperature maintenance for the +2°C/+8°C, +15°C/+25°C and -80°C ranges is guaranteed, giving you the benefit of robust, safe isothermal equipment made in France.
Cold cubes
BAC insulated containers can be divided into :
- Small-volume boxes which, once loaded, can still be handled by hand and can be slipped into any vehicle, even one with a low loading height;
- Large-capacity insulated crates, which need to be handled by forklift truck or large-capacity container;
Like cubes, OLIVO isothermal BACs can be stacked.
This type of isothermal crate is used to transport bulk or packaged products from various sectors (food, chemicals, health). They can be stacked.
Volumes range from 25 to 600 litres, with the smallest easily transported. The larger ones can be pushed and moved using a forklift or pallet truck. This isothermal box is available in European pallet, half-pallet, quarter-pallet and other formats.
Two technical designs for isothermal BACs
The OLIVO range of isothermal BACs is divided into two types of container with different technologies:
turquoise polyethylene isothermal boxes ;
white isothermal boxes in fibreglass/polyester composite;
Blue isothermal BACs
Between blue and green, the turquoise-coloured BAC refrigerated containers are the result of the latest rotational moulding technology, which enables the double wall of the box and the lid to be moulded "in one shot" in a single unit.
Once the containers have been moulded, the insulating material is injected into the double plastic wall. It consists of the latest-generation expanded polyurethane foam.
This box has a very good isothermal coefficient (K), considerably reducing the sublimation rate of dry ice. This is 7%-8% on the first day and 5% on subsequent days. Our BAC320 can also hold 150kg of 3mm pellets for 13 days without opening.
As the polyurethane foam is encapsulated in the totally watertight double-walled plastic, the insulation retains its integrity and quality even after years of use of the insulated container.
White isothermal boxes
The white BAC isothermal refrigerated boxes are made from a fibreglass/polyester composite.
Their design is more traditional. Once moulded, the outer and inner walls are assembled with the lid.
The insulation is made from the latest-generation expanded polyurethane foam to ensure that your products or foodstuffs are transported in complete safety.
OLIVO polyester insulated containers have traditionally been used in the gas industry for transporting solid dry ice. Dry ice blocks, pellets and sticks are all different sizes to which the laminated polyester BAC can be adapted.
Dry ice has a very low temperature of almost -80°C. Polyester isothermal boxes all have an excellent isothermal coefficient (K coefficient) to limit the sublimation of dry ice during storage and transport.
Traditionally, composite materials are selected for their excellent resistance to very low temperatures.
Isothermal BAC formats
Available in turquoise or white, the isothermal BAC is available in various logistical dimensions for loading: European pallet format, half pallet, quarter pallet, etc.
Several models of refrigerated boxes are specifically designed for transporting healthcare products.
Isothermal BAC equipment
For greater ergonomics, large-capacity isothermal BACs have a lid that opens and closes with the help of jacks. This makes them easier to load and handle on delivery.
Small-volume insulated BACs are fitted with a hinged lid that is integral with the body.
Isothermal BACs are stackable when the box is not mounted on stainless steel wheels.
When the isothermal BAC is fitted with stainless steel wheels, 2 fixed wheels give the direction of travel and 2 swivel wheels enable the direction to be changed.
OLIVO offers one direction of travel as standard, but the direction of travel can be reversed on request. Our range adapts to your needs.
As an option, isothermal BACs can be fitted with four stainless steel swivel wheels, which increase their mobility in confined spaces, for example at a workstation, but reduce the stability of directional rolling.
For storing products or foodstuffs and transporting dry ice, isothermal BACs are fitted with a silicone seal for added safety.
